NIT Durgapur unveils 100-Ft Flag Mast on 79th Independence Day

The National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur, formerly known as RE College), in collaboration with the NIT Durgapur Alumni Association (NITDAA) and the 1994 batch of alumni, marked India’s 79th Independence Day with the inauguration of a 100-feet-high flag mast.
The Tricolour was ceremonially hoisted at 11:30 a.m. by Prof. Arvind Choubey, Director, NIT Durgapur, in the presence of faculty, students, alumni, and distinguished guests.
Donated jointly by NITDAA and the 1994 batch, the towering mast stands as a permanent landmark of India’s pride, unity, and resilience—paying tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and reinforcing the institute’s enduring bond with the nation.
Er. Tarun Kumar Dutta,President, NITDAA, in his speech emphasized on the bonding of the institution with its alumni. Director, Prof. Arvind Choubey congratulated both NITDAA & it's 1994 batch for such a prestigious and unique gift to the alma mater.
The entire program was curated by Er. Asok Majumdar, VP-NITDAA Apex member.
